Frank J. Cilluffo
Chief Strategy Officer
Frank keeps KnowCyber in-the-know. He is a frequent expert witness, commentator, and author on cybersecurity and national security, and is routinely called upon to advise senior officials in industry and government. Currently, he is director of Auburn University’s McCrary Institute for Cyber and Critical Infrastructure Security. Previously, at The George Washington University, he established and directed the Center for Cyber and Homeland Security (now part of the McCrary Institute) and launched, with the School of Business, GWU’s World Executive MBA in Cybersecurity program. Frank served as special assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism for President George W. Bush. Prior to that appointment, he held senior policy positions for the Center for Strategic and International Studies. His work has been published in academic, law, business, and policy journals, as well as in newspapers and magazines worldwide.
Joan Phillips
Principal
Joan oversees KnowCyber’s operations and leads initiatives to shape, expand, and promote KnowCyber’s offerings. As an instructional development and communications professional, she oversees our learning product design, development, and delivery activities. Previously, she held leadership roles in program management, marketing, instructional development, and publications design and development. She has worked with professional and executive development organizations and with academic partnerships including ESI International and The George Washington University (GW) School of Business and GW Law School, IPS Learning and the Stanford University School of Engineering, the U.S. Strategic Leadership Center, and Meridian International Center. She has also designed and developed online learning products for the United Nations and for various U.S. government agencies.

J. Richard Knop, Chairman
Rick brings to this role deep knowledge of the cybersecurity industry and its leading participants, with extensive professional and personal relationships throughout government, industry, and academia. A prominent investment banker and private equity fund manager, Rick co-founded FedCap Partners and the Windsor Group and headed BB&T Capital Markets. He chairs the board of directors of the GW Center for Cyber and Homeland Security and is a member of the board of trustees of The George Washington University and board of advisors of the GW Law School.
Leslee Belluchie
Leslee contributes broad and deep knowledge and experience in cybersecurity solutions and technology, plus strong relationships with industry and government cybersecurity leaders. She is a managing member of FedCap Partners, LLC, a private equity fund she cofounded in 2010, which invests primarily in companies focused on the U.S. intelligence community, cybersecurity, and energy. Previously, she held operational and business development leadership positions including CEO, National Security Partners; Senior VP and Chief Marketing Officer, Serco-NA (formally SI International); Partner, National Intelligence Agency’s IBM Federal division; CEO, NCR Teradata Government Division; and VP, Computer Sciences Corporation. She currently is a member of the Auburn University Research Advisory Board and the advisory board of the university’s McCrary Institute.
Campbell B. Lanier III
Cam is chairman and CEO of ITC Holding Company, LLC. His focus over
the past 30+ years has been on early stage investments in communications, technology, financial services, restaurant management solutions, on-line training services, and canine detection services. He is currently director or chairman of numerous portfolio companies, including Kinetic Ventures, a leading venture capital firm. He was co-founder of Interstate
Communications (Telecom*USA), acquired by MCI for $1.2 billion in 1990; founding investor and chairman of Powertel (now T-Mobile), acquired by Deutsche Telecom for $4.2 billion in 2000; and founding investor for Mindspring, valued at $1 billion at its merger with Earthlink.
Edwin L. Phelps
Ed is an entrepreneur, business owner, and expert in training and development. He has extensive experience in building and running learning and development companies and their university partnerships, with a keen sense for market opportunities. Ed was founder, CEO, and president of ESI International; owner, IPS Associates (now IPS Learning); co-owner, Paradigm Learning; and vice president, Sterling Institute. He has served on the board of advisors of The George Washington University Law School and the board of trustees of the GW Medical Faculty Associates.

Ronald Burgess
Ronald chairs the KnowCyber™ Advisory Board. Lt. Gen. Burgess is currently Chief Operating Officer of Auburn University and a member of the advisory board of Auburn’s McCrary Institute for Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure. He retired from the U.S. Army in 2012 as the 17th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, having previously served as acting principal deputy director of national intelligence. During a distinguished 38-year career in the U.S. Army, he held a variety of key staff and command positions, including Director of Intelligence, J2, U.S. Southern Command; Director of Intelligence, J2, Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Deputy Director of National Intelligence for Customer Outcomes transitioning to Director of the Intelligence Staff in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
